The History of Electric Party Boats

Of all of the different items to have gained some purchase in the electric industry, party boats would not be one of them.  There have been efforts into getting the party boat electrified, but most of those efforts have fallen flat on their face.  They started in the 1970s as a result of the oil shocks and have continued through to the present day in one form or another, but most of the people that purchase party boats are still people that are interested in getting some of the conventional combustion models available in today’s market.

In fact, it is perhaps not that surprising that electric party boats have not caught on.  If you take a look at the areas in which electric vehicles have really caught steam, the areas are ones in which you would use the vehicle on a regular and frequent basis.  This is why electric cars are leading the way and are followed by electric trucks, vans and 2-3 wheeled vehicles.

In many ways, the electric party boat is not really built for early electrification in mind.  Since most people that own them do not use them that frequently, the hurt of the higher gas cost is not one that would be on a person’s mind most of the time.  That essentially means that electric party boats will be one of the last electric transportation items to actually dominate their part of the industry.  Until that day comes, combustion vehicles are going to be far better in just about every respect.
